Bathhouse is a queer rave celebrating inclusivity, self-expression, and South Africa’s vibrant music scene—dance, sweat, and feel sexy in a space that truly embraces you

A Rave Beyond the Dancefloor

Bathhouse exists to represent and include all queer people with the intention of offering an experience that is more accessible and enjoyable to a larger group of people from within this community. From the outside, and at its least metaphorical, Bathhouse is a rave; a party for people to dance, talk—and maybe Chise (flirt) a little. A room full of artificial smoke, flashing lights, sweaty people, and not much more, yet from the inside, it is so much more. A celebration of how good it feels to dance, how good it feels to sweat, to feel sexy, and how good it feels to be gay in a space that not only accepts but celebrates it.

A Space for Every Flavour of Queer

We hope that all flavours of queer are represented and celebrated at our event — trans, femme, non-binary, non-conforming, alt hunnies all need a place to play! Our goal is to expand the scope of possibility in this city, creating a space accessible to as many people as possible in our community. “There are plenty of spaces to be gay, we want more where we can be queer”.

While there is always exciting international acts on lineups this time of year, we are aware of how lucky we are to have such deeply talented people in the South African music scene and we want to give these well deserving performers a stage that encourages them to go wild and exposes them to a diverse crowd of people that will appreciate their unique sounds.

Our DJs have been briefed to go crazy, to create sets that are bouncy, loud, and will make people sweat.

We look forward to Bathhouse's first event on 1 march 2025, and hope that it is the first of many.
